David qualified as a solicitor
in 1969 while in the local government service, where he was subsequently
appointed Assistant Borough Solicitor and later Deputy Head at Law at
Islington Council, advising on contracts, property and local government
finance. It was in local government that he acquired his knowledge and
understanding of building contracts. In 1990 he left the public service
to join the Construction Group of City solicitors Speechly Bircham,
where he developed his considerable experience on the commercial side of
construction agreements, acting for banks, public companies, developers,
construction companies, charities and private clients. In 2001 he
started his own practice serving a similar range of clients. In 2009 he
decided to swap the rigours of running his own law firm for a more
satisfying role as a consultant, where he can focus on using his
considerable expertise for the benefit of our clients.
He is a member of the Law
Society and the Society of Construction Law. In his spare time he edits
a newsletter for a special interest group, helps to run an online local
newspaper in his home town of Finchley, and supports Arsenal FC.
